- Ringelbaum, Emanuel
- (1900-44)Galician histor-ian. He was born in Buchach, in eastern Galicia, and became a high-school history teacher. Active in the Poale Zion movement, he was sent by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to Zbaszyri in 1938 to direct relief work and collect testimonies from Jews who had been deported there. During World War II he assembled a secret archive of events in the Warsaw Ghetto; it later came to light and constitutes an important source of information on what took place there.
